My idea was to give my drawings a body. Ceramics seemed to be the best way to make that happen. Also, I am a big fan of Fischli and Weiss’s ceramic work “Suddenly This Overview.” Simple thoughts about life in ceramics. My drawings are black and white, and I thought it would be great to bring some colors into the 3-dimensional transformation. I bought a kiln and all the necessary ceramic tools and started to produce. It was a lot of fun. All the objects are bisque fired, and after applying the colors, glaze fired. It is not the same volume as Fischli and Weiss’s army of clay figurines, but it is just enough to fill up a room with my colorful thoughts in clay.
I showed them at Carbon12, Dubai, Nils Staerk, Copenhagen, Metro Pictures, New York, Kodama Gallery, Tokyo, Nicolas von Senger, Zuerich, and Revolver Gallery in Buenos Aires. Always together with framed large-scale ink drawings. Please go to “shows” to check it out.
