Public and outdoor art pieces have to withstand all kinds of weather. It is an exciting challenge because the ideas have to focus more on being monumental and permanent. Besides, the urban space is sometimes a more exciting stage to present art since unexpected visitors will enjoy it. Of course, there are artistic restrictions for building something permanent. When I got commissioned to create a public art piece in front of a new building, I was confused about the NOs involved. To make sure no one can climb it, nor birds should nest on it, and many other reasons do not do certain things. What, in the end, is a small price to pay; creativity around a good idea has many ways to go.
The photos below show all the sculptures I made that can be outside. Some are installed permanently, and others travel from garden to garden.
