OUT OF BALANCE

Humans have always built armor. First from steel, then from machines, algorithms, networks, and invisible systems. Every invention promises greater safety, greater control, greater distance from the uncertainties of nature.Unlike any other species, we surround ourselves with layers of protection. Yet the more complex these layers become, the more fragile they are. A power outage, a broken network, a failed system—and the illusion of control begins to collapse.

The knights in Out of Balance wear armor and roller skates. They are equipped for defense but unable to stand. Their technological extensions have become their instability. What appears strong is precarious; what appears protected is already falling.

The work reflects a paradox of modern civilization: the more we try to secure ourselves, the more dependent we become on the very systems that can fail. Beneath all our inventions, we remain vulnerable—still subject to gravity, chance, and the natural world from which we have tried so hard to separate ourselves
