Sad Artist
Sad Artist is a series of three sculptures: The Wall, The Steps, and Sad. Each combines a bronze replica of an ordinary paint bucket with a small black-glazed ceramic scene. The paint bucket refers to the artist’s studio, while the miniature figures suggest quiet, personal moments of reflection.
The works are not about a single event, but about the experience of looking at the world as an artist. Alongside beauty, humor, and optimism, there are wars, destruction, injustice, and human conflict. These realities cannot simply be ignored; they become part of the creative process. The small figures confront obstacles, isolation, and loss, expressing a sense of helplessness that many people experience when faced with problems far beyond their control.
The series reflects the tension between making art and witnessing a world that is often both inspiring and deeply unsettling.
