VAMPIRES

Since Bram Stoker wrote the novel Dracula in 1897, stories of vampires seem to inspire us immensely, and many other tales of the blood-sucking creatures have been told since then. And what is not to like about an endless life (unless someone shoots you with a sliver bullet), incredible strength, being fast as the wind, transforming into a bat in some cases, and all of that for just a little blood from the neck of a helpless victim. Inspired by this genre, I created “Vampires” in 2002. That was at a time when my art often took references from horror movies, and I was one of the pioneers doing that in contemporary art.
